Qatari artistes to participate in Kuwait Youth Theatre Festival

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar, represented by the Centre for Theatre Affairs, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Sports, will participate in the Kuwait Youth Theatre Festival, which will be held on October 15 in Kuwait.
Director of the Centre for Theatre Affairs, Salah al-Mulla, said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the play Whisper of Chairs was chosen by Ahmed al-Miftah and directed by Faisal Rasheed and played by a group of young Qatari artistes.
He said that the team is currently preparing for rehearsals to participate in the Arab Youth Festival.
Whisper of Chairs was awarded the best theatre play performance of the 3rd Youth Theatre Festival in December 2012, featuring the Arab reality that is inspired by the symbolism of the ruling power of chair and the authority.
With a wide Arab participation, the festival will start with a Kuwaiti show (Ya Sada, Ya Kiram). It will also include a workshop between the Arab theatre artistes and a seminar entitled (Between Theory and Practice in Youth Theatre).
Al-Mulla confirmed the readiness of the Qatari teams to participate in the international Arab events.
He expressed his regret over the cancellation of the Gulf Theatre Festival for the Disabled.
He added that the theatre scene was not affected negatively by the siege, but witnessed a great cultural movement.
'We saw the participation of the private sector strongly in the theatre and the youth, as seen in (The Siege) play, and upcoming plays such as (Deirat Al-Ezz), as well as old stars returned to the theatre such as Ghanim al-Sulaiti and Abdul Aziz Jassim, stressing that the opportunity is still available for all teams and companies to enter the season this year, which began on September already and continues until the end of March 2018.
