Qatar beat Turkmenistan in friendly match
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Doha: Qatar's national football team beat Turkmenistan 2-1 in a friendly match at Thani bin Jassim Stadium yesterday.
The match was played as a preparation ahead of Qatar's next two 2018 World Cup qualifiers matches against Syria and China. The Qatari team will play against Syria on August 31 in Malaysia, and then will host China on September 5 at Khalifa International Stadium, in the final group A match.
Qatar trained at a preparatory camp in Birmingham last week, where they played three friendly matches. They lost to Leeds United and Nottingham Forest before winning their match against Andorra.
Meanwhile, captain Ibrahim Majid will not play the Syria match because of suspension and will return to the team for the China fixture in Doha.
