Kuwait- Turkish Parl't extends state of emergency for another 3 months
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, July 17 (KUNA) -- Turkey's Parliament approved the Cabinet's motion Monday to extend the ongoing state of emergency in the country for another three months starting from July 19, official media reported.
The motion was backed by votes of ruling Justice and Development Party and opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), according to the Anadolu Agency (AA).
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, and MHP Leader Devlet Bahceli had signaled in their speeches earlier that the state of emergency would be extended.
During the state of emergency, the cabinet has the right to issue statutory decrees under the president of the republic without regard to routine procedures and restrictions in Article 91 of the country's Constitution.
The Turkish government has declared a state of emergency on July 20, 2016 following the failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016. (end) rs.amm.ma
