Sweden broadens efforts to escape economic tumble

(MENAFN) Sweden's government is struggling to find shelter for tens of thousands of refugees who have streamed across the border, plus there're as many as 190,000 asylum seekers expected to arrive in Sweden this year.

The influx into the nation of 10 million people could hit 350,000 this year and next, hence a group of local firms like the biggest construction company Skanska AB say the private sector should be brought in to help build infrastructure.

Accordingly, discussions are being held to renew calls for the use of public-private partnerships, known as PPPs, to collect funds for projects like public transport that will allow new accommodation to be constructed more quickly.

Moreover, the government will have to revise economic projections because budget deficits will be wider than previously estimated, hence the country currently doesn't have the capacity to deal with current numbers of refugees.
