Turkey- Turkish demands simple, deal depends on Israel's attitude: FM
(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuolu said on June 22 Turkey’s demands were simple and the deal withIsraeldepended on the country’s attitude, adding that the talks betweenAnkaraand Tel Aviv were ongoing.
“Our talks withIsraelare continuing. Our conditions are simple. The deal in the first upcoming meeting depends on Israel’s attitude,” Çavuolu told reporters during a joint press conference with his Turkish Cypriot counterpart Tahsin Erturulolu in the capital Ankara.
Çavuolu also said Ankara’s talks with Hamas were no secret, while noting that it was not a condition in theIsraelnormalization talks.
He also saidAnkaradid not believe in permanent peace without Hamas.
Strained relations between once close allies Turkey andIsraelmay be nearing recovery, with both parties agreeing to conclude a deal on June 26, sources told Hürriyet on June 21.
The relationship between Turkey andIsraelwas severely strained after the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara vessel was raided by Israeli commandos in 2010, killing nine Turkish citizens and one Turkish-American citizen on board.
