22 more airstrikes target IS in Syria, Iraq

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, May 14 (KUNA) -- The US-led coalition against the so-called Islamic State (IS) group launched 22 airstrikes in Iraq and Syria Friday, the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in its daily report.

In Syria, five airstrikes hit IS targets in Manbij and Mar'a, while in Iraq, 17 airstrikes hit IS targets in Al Baghdadi, Albu Hayat, Ar Rutbah, Bayji, Fallujah, Habbaniyah, Haditha, Qayyarah, and Tal Afar, CJTF-OIR said.

The report also noted that an error was made in its May 13 airstrike count, and that "there were no strikes conducted near Waleed, Syria." The coalition continues to consider a single airstrike as "one or more kinetic events that occur in roughly the same geographic location to produce a single, sometimes cumulative effect."
