GCC single visa to enhance tourism sector

(MENAFN) A unified tourist visa for the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states should be prioritized by local governments to pull global travelers despite security concerns.

Moreover, the visa system will enable tourists and expatriates living in the GCC to be able to move easily between any of the six member states.

In addition, GCC nationals, who account for 51.9 percent of the region's 50.3mn population, can move between borders without the need for a visa.

Recently, travel and tourism contributes 8.7 percent of GDP in the UAE and helps over half a million jobs, or 9 percent of total employment.
