Morocco- Gunmen Kill Moroccan Peacekeeper in Central African Republic


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) A Moroccan peacekeeper has been killed on the Sunday in the African Republic the United Nations said on Monday.

According to the UN spokesperson the Moroccan peacekeepers who is part of the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) was shot by unknown gunmen.

'A Moroccan peacekeeper was shot by unknown assailants and succumbed to his wounds later in the afternoon' a statement issued by the UN spokesperson said.

The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the killing of the Moroccan peacekeeper.

According to the same source “the incident occurred when a MINUSCA patrol was dispatched to Rafai in response to an attack on the nearby village Agoumar by alleged elements of the Lord's Resistance Army.'
