Jordan- UAE to send ground troops to Syria Minister
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Abu Dhabi Feb. 7 (Petra) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced Sunday it would send land troops to Syria as part of the US-led coalition fighting the Daesh terrorist group.
The official WAM news agency quoted UAE State Minister for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash as saying at a news conference in Abu Dhabi that his country maintained its position that "any real campaign against Daesh should involve boots on the ground".
He did not give a specific number for UAE troops that will be deployed to Syria saying: "We are not talking about thousands of soldiers" and adding that the presence of a US command for the anti-Daesh force is a precondition for the UAE to participate.
