(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD Jan 24 (KUNA) -- The 11th conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC (PUIC) came to a close on Sunday night with the adoption of the Baghdad Declaration.The lengthy sessions of the gathering chaired by Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Salim Al-Jabouri addressed a range of formidable challenges facing the Muslim nation foremost among which is the security instability and political tensions.The declaration stressed the need to double efforts to resolve the tensions among the Muslim countries through "responsible dialogue" with a view to enabling the Muslim nation resume its pioneering role in civilization Al-Jabouri told reporters.The Iraqi top lawmaker promised that his country will act as a bridge of amity cooperation trust and interdependence among the Muslim countries."Iraq is looking forward to maintaining the spirit of concord and amity that prevailed in the just-ended gathering in the coming activities of the PUIC" Al-Jabouri added.He thanked the senior MPs representing 40 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for contributing to the success of the conference.The closing session voted for accepting the parliamentary union of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) as observer member and endorsing the PUIC charter against terrorism and the report of the 18th session of the PUIC general commission.
