Port of Duqm to start mineral exports in Oman

(MENAFN) Port of Duqm intends to start export of minerals for the first time in Feb 2016, which has already set up services for 'early operation' of its break bulk terminal for exporting 50,000 tons of dolomite.

Accordingly, the terminal has a capacity to handle 5mn tons in the first phase, which can be topped substantially in the future.

"We have identified a huge potential of minerals in Oman, which will be definitely a source of income for the country," said chief executive officer.

Additionally, Port of Duqm is working with Oman Railway to improve mineral exports by transporting products from far off places and saving it near the port.
