KSA renews call for global antiterror fight
(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has renewed a call for unified global efforts to root out terrorism and extremism.
The call was made during a meeting of the heads of specialized committees of the Shoura Council with US Ambassador to the Kingdom Joseph W. Westphal at the Shoura premises on Wednesday.
At the outset of the meeting Shoura member Prince Khaled bin Abdullah Al-Mashari welcomed the US envoy and his accompanying delegation and affirmed the deeply rooted relations between the US and the Kingdom in all areas.
Prince Khaled touched on the Kingdom's efforts and its continued coordination with the international community in the face of terror.
He said the Kingdom under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman remains committed to the importance of unifying global efforts in the face of terror and extremism.
For his part the US envoy affirmed the strength and historical relations between the two countries and his country's keenness to enhance these relations in all fields.
In this context he praised efforts undertaken by the Kingdom to fight terrorism and dry up its sources. He further stressed the importance of cultural and economic exchanges between the two countries and their role in deepening ties between the two peoples.
The meeting explored a number of issues of mutual concern and also discussed means of boosting cooperation between the Shoura Council and US Congress and activating visits between the two legislative bodies.
The attendees denounced Iran's interference in the internal affairs of a number of Arab countries particularly Bahrain Yemen Syria and Iraq.
