Jordan Expresses Concern over Israeli Escalation in Jerusalem
(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh stressed that Israeli latest escalation in the holy sites in Jerusalem is of great concern to Jordan.
The minister highlighted the historic Jordanian role and the Hashemite custodianship of Jerusalem's holy sites, noting at the same time that maintaining the status quo of Al-Haram Al-Sharif is of top priority to Jordan.
Judeh welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's commitment to maintaining the status quo of holy sites in Jerusalem, adding that it is a step in the right direction, according to (Petra) news agency.
He affirmed Jordan's stance towards cessation of violence and supporting efforts to reach an end to the violence, maintain calm and resume efforts to address all the issues through serious negotiations.
