Jordan- Senate president meets Council of Europe delegation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Senate President ,Abdul Raouf Rawabdeh, Monday, said that reform in Jordan is an ongoing policy that have been pursued by the Hashemites since the creation of the state of Jordan.

During a meeting with a delegation representing the Council of Europe led by rapporteur for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Josette Durrieu, Rawabdeh voiced Jordan's keenness to consolidate partnership with the EU in various fields to serve common interests.

Rawabdeh called on democratic and peace-loving nations to stand by Jordan to enable it to continue assuming the responsibility of hosting large numbers of refugees, especially the Syrians, whose number exceeded the 1.3 million.

In the presence of the French Ambassador to Jordan, Caroline Dumas, Rawabdeh reviewed Jordan's reform process, explaining that one-third of the constitution was amended and that a constitutional court and an Independent Elections Commission were established.

Durrieu praised Jordan's reform process, as well as the Kingdom's role to achieve security and stability in the region under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
