Saudi- 3 million square meters freed from land grabbers
(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: In a major crackdown the Jeddah municipality has freed 3 million square meters of government land from illegal occupants in the south of the city.
In a fresh drive in the city against land-grabbers and many illegal structures boundary walls and fencings were removed Mohammed Al-Zahrani the head of the sub municipality branch south of Jeddah said Sunday.
'The action was taken at several locations near the industrial city under the instructions of Mayor Hani Abu Ras' he said.
He said most of the encroached land is on the outskirts of the city where no significant development has taken place. 'However the municipality will not let such things happen and had sent bulldozers to remove the boundary walls that were built by land-grabbers.'
Al-Zahrani warned citizens not to purchase land without scrutinizing the property and papers especially the land outside the city to avoid being cheated and also to prevent the emergence of slums.
He thanked the citizens who contributed to the fight against encroachment by reporting irregularities to the municipality.
