S. Korea signs free trade deal with EAEU

(MENAFN) South Korea keen to act faster to sign a free trade deal with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), bearing in mind the union's wealth of natural resources and potential for growth that would result from this deal.

The Eurasia Initiative works to promote regional cooperation with economies in the region and connect energy and logistics infrastructure across Asia and Europe.

EAEU which was started in January is an economic body involving five Commonwealth of Independent States; Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan - with an economic size of USD2.1 trillion.

A free trade pact with the region would be mutually beneficial as the union's states are rich in mineral resources, whereas Korea has a competitive edge in exports of industrial goods.
