Saudi- Arab guests welcome in Austria

(MENAFN- Arab News) This refers to the news report 'Czech Embassy grapples with large number of visa applications' published in Arab News on Aug. 13. The Austrian Embassy in Riyadh has made the following clarifications:

Arab guests are of course very welcome in Austria! There exist no plans whatsoever to reduce the number of visas issued to our guests from Saudi Arabia or any other Gulf country.

Furthermore no Austrian Embassy has been asked to 'provide booklets to all visa applicants about the cultural environment and laws of Austria related to environmental protection and animal rights.'

On the contrary: Our tourism industry is dedicated to making guests from all over the world feel welcome and comfortable in Austria. This is especially true for guests from the Middle East as Austria is the fastest growing European destination for tourism from this region. The number of guests from the Middle East has increased by 600 percent in the last 10 years and it continues to grow.

Austria has a long tradition in tourism and hospitality which is an important part of our culture. It is therefore not surprising that many of our Arab guests state in their feedback why they choose Austria over other destinations. They say that they find Austrians to be very friendly and hospitable. We are truly proud of this spirit of respect and hospitality. Florian Groder charge d'affaires Embassy of Austria in Riyadh
