Saudi- Social media a boon or bane in Ramadan

(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: Is involvement in social media the right thing or wrong particularly in the month of Ramadan? There is a difference of opinion with some arguing that it eats into the time that should be spent praying while some backing it for its religious benefits.
Ahmad Al-Bassam has been quoted by local media as saying that it's good to spend some time surfing the websites with good advice. His page on Face Book for example has various sayings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and stories on morals which can be shared with others.
Khalid Awad says he shut his computer and limited the use of his smart phone during Ramadan to perform prayers and utilize his time in the best possible way.
Abdullah Aqil says reminding ourselves about Allah Qur'an interpretation and hadith through social media is a good thing. "There are a lot of Islamic treasures published on the Internet by foreign friends who share Ramadan with me through social media" he said.
