Oman- Increase in fixed phone line users, says NCSI

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The number of fixed phone users touched 397179 till the end of May this year compared to 391783 in April according to figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The figures show that the number of mobile phone subscribers had crossed 6339000 by May while the number of fixed broadband Internet users was over 3.6mn.

The number of pre-paid fixed phone users reached 41023 in May compared to 38779 at the end of April. Meanwhile the number of post-paid users reached 301671 in May compared to 298316 the previous month. The number of public phones was 6801.

The total number of mobile phone subscribers reached 6339186 till May-end compared to 6282196 the previous month. The number of pre-paid mobile subscribers was 5789171 in May compared to 5735420 in April.

Meanwhile the number of Internet subscribers touched 195549 at the end of May compared to 194321 in April. 'Subscribers of the broadband service including the ADSL service and WiMAX (leased lines) reached 192626 in May compared to 191377 in April.' The number of mobile broadband users has reached 2998835.
