Saudi- Manhole covers not protected by asphalt a hazard to road users
(MENAFN- Arab News) JUBAIL: Manhole covers not asphalted have become a phenomenon on many of the Kingdom's streets. They are often either higher or lower than the street level due to the negligence of sanitation project contractors causing significant damage to cars on the roads.
Some experts have blamed the authorities responsible for receiving sanitation projects for neglecting the technical side of their work saying that the iron covers should be placed properly on the manholes.
This phenomenon represents an obstacle for drivers who may crash into other cars during their attempt to avoid these covers.
Despite the existence of manhole covers in the streets for a long time the projects implemented recently proved that new contractors have not been careful to improve and protect such covers with asphalt.
