Team Honda bags EPCA Super Cup

(MENAFN- Arab News) DAMMAM: Team Honda once again proved their supremacy in the Premier Division when they beat Al-Tuwairqi to win the Twenty20 Super Cup cricket final sponsored by Alturki and organized by the Eastern Province Cricket Association.
Al-Tuwairqi batted first and put up a total off 158 in the allotted overs.
Rizwan Qayyum (38) and Javed Kamran (30) were the main contributors. Seven batsmen of Al-Tuwairqi failed to reach double figures. Khawar Abbas 4 for 28 and Mohsin two for 31 did most of the damage.
In reply Honda were off to a good start by openers Saad Khan (32) and Afaq Ahmad (37). Then followed a middle order collapse. However Mohsin Rajpoot (38 not out) stayed at the wicket patiently and steered his team to victory with a penultimate ball six as at one stage they required 7 runs off the last 2 balls. Tajammul Hayat bowled well and took 3 wickets for Al-Tuwairqi.
In the first division semifinal Bindelamah Adpco scored an easy seven-wicket win over Binzagr.
Binzagr batted first and scored 159 off 20 overs. Khalil Ahmed (33) Mohammad Owais (16) and Nameen Akram (32) were the main scorers. Ali Rizwan bowled excellently and took 3 for 15. Kannan got 2 wickets.
In reply Bindelamah Adpco achieved the victory target off 15th overs. Asghar Altaf (39) Bader Muneer (42) and Arsalan Ahsan (46) were instrumental in their team's entry into the final.
In the other semifinal Eastern Arabia beat SACCO by 29 runs. Eastern Arabia scored 230 in the allotted 20 overs. Surjit Hardiyal (41) Syed Imran (30) Aftab Siddiq (37) and Afwan Mohammed (67) gave their team a fighting total.
In reply SACCO also started well and their openers scored freely but a brilliant catch by Afwan on boundary line to a lofted shot by Umair Sharif (33) turned the match in Eastern Arabia's favor. Falik Sher (37) Mannan (33) Murtuza (35) and Yaseen (19) tried to make a fight of it as SACCO was all out for 201 in the last over. Sanil 3 for 31 Surjith 3 for 28 and Ashraf 2 for 37 bowled well.
