Saulat Mirza executed
(MENAFN- Arab News) MACH: Pakistan's notorious target killer Saulat Ali Khan alias Saulat Mirza was finally hanged to death in Balochistan's Mach Jail after a formal medical examination early Tuesday morning ARY reported.
Strict security measures were taken in and around the jail premises to avert any untoward incident before the high-profile prisoner was executed.
Mirza was convicted of killing former Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) managing director Shahid Hamid his driver and guard in 1997.
His dead body was shifted to Quetta before been transferred to Karachi.
Mirza's family held last meeting with him in the jail on Monday with his wife expressing hope for another extension while appealing the government to reopen Shahid Hamid murder case.
Mirza in his video statement in March hours before his planned execution claimed that he killed Hamid on direct orders from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.
His hanging was put off at the eleventh hour after the video and later an investigation team was formed to probe his allegations.
However Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar claimed that Mirza's execution was deferred on medical grounds.
