Algeria, France worried over Libya's conditions

Date:

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Algeria and France voiced concerns Tuesday over deteriorating security conditions in Libya, which has been a scene of terrorist acts.

Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, at a joint news conference with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius following signature of four economic cooperation agreements, said Algiers was talking to UN, the French and Europeans regarding the Libyan conflict.

He brushed aside the notion of a military intervention in Libya. "The political solution in Libya is the only solution," he added.

Lamamra called on Libyan parties to achieve national reconciliation towards establishing a government of national unity with the objective of achieving security and stability in the country.

Fabius acknowledged difficulties in Libya, but said France was fully behind the UN efforts to reaching a political solution.

He said the events in Libya would not only affect the region but Europe as well, voicing concerns over the terrorist groups in Libya.

Lamamra and Fabius, meanwhile, backed the peace process in Mali.
