Saudi- 30 young citizens to chase consumer goods
(MENAFN- Arab News) Over 30 percent of the Kingdom's population fall in the young category and is expected to spend on consumer goods like cars clothing and electronic goods a survey has revealed.
Moreover the income of this segment will be diverted to this market sector and not on accommodation due to a rise in the rate of delayed marriages the Department of Statistics' 2014 population survey has found.
According to the data those aged under 20 represent more than 50 percent of the Kingdom's total population. A large segment of the population aged 15 to 25 was born between 1990 and 2000.
The Department of Statistics' population survey placed children at the base of the pyramid while the remaining age groups fell in the descending order to the smallest group comprising 75 to 79 year olds.
Statistics reveal the Kingdom's population reached 30.8 million at the end of 2014 with citizens comprising 20.7 million of the total population. Thirty-five percent of the population is under the age of 15 while those above 65 represent 10 percent.
