China's transport investments hit USD28.7b in 2M
(MENAFN) Data showed that China invested USD28.7 billion on construction of railways, roads and waterways in the first two months of 2015, up 16.9 percent on-year, Xinhua reported.
Railways investment hit USD7.55 billion, up 8.2 percent; roads investment stood at USD19 billion, up 15.9 percent, while waterways investment reached USD2.12 billion, up 85.5 percent on-year.
The Chinese Ministry of Transport attributed the sharp rise in waterway investment in the first two months of the current year was due to a low base in the same period last year.
The data also showed that the country's railways, roads, and waterways recorded 3.67 billion passenger trips in the January-February period, dropping 2.9 percent from the same period a year ago.
