Japan's industrial output down 3.4 percent in February
(MENAFN) Government data showed that Japan's industrial production in February declined at a faster-than-expected pace, dropping 3.4 percent on-year, Xinhua reported.
The figure contrasts with a 3.7 percent increase in January, and below economists' forecast of a 1.8 percent fall for the month, the Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry said.
By sector, production of small passenger cars and auto parts declined 3.6 percent, while output by general-purpose machinery makers dropped 5.6 percent and electronic parts and devices plunged 7.4 percent.
However, the Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry maintained its basic assessment of output, saying it is "showing signs of increase at a moderate pace."
