Finland's Rovio Entertainment posts USD167.6m revenue in 2014

(MENAFN) Finland's Rovio Entertainment, the development studio behind Angry Birds, posted a revenue of USD167.6 million in 2014, marking a 9 percent decrease, the financial Times reported.

The mobile gaming firm, at its 2014 earnings summit, said that the slump was due to a decrease in product licensing income. However, it admitted that its games revenue grew by 16 percent to USD117.2 million.

Games profit was driven by the launch of six titles in 2014, building upon Rovio's existing portfolio, with the company boasting 600 million game downloads in 2014.

"2014 results show that steps in the game portfolio, free to play competency building and advertising are going in the right direction," the chief executive of Rovio said in a statement.
