Bomb explosions in 10th of Ramadan City cause electricity blackout
(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Three electricity stations in 10th of Ramadan City were hit by major bomb explosions on Tuesday night, which led to a power outage of around 80% of the industrial city, state media reported.
In Heliopolis, Cairo, one person was injured and two cars were smashed in a bomb explosion on Tuesday night.
Two more bombs were found in the area. The first was installed at the street located behind the courthouse of Heliopolis and adjacent to the Heliopolis postal office. The office windows were damaged after the first bomb exploded.
Another explosive device was also detected afterwards in the same vicinity, but was dismantled before explosion, according to MENA state news agency.
In Fayoum, a homemade bomb was detonated by two masked men on a motorcycle near the parking area of a Oberg hotel on the shore of Qaroun lake, with no injuries reported.
Bombings have become a frequent occurrence across Egypt, with the insurgency at its peak in North Sinai, followed by Greater Cairo and other governorates. Military experts agree that the recent targeting telecommunication branches, banks, electricity and gas supply units aim to discourage investments in Egypt, ahead of the Economic Summit starting Friday in Sharm El-Sheikh.
In March, bomb explosions have been taking place on daily basis and across several cities in Egypt, leaving at least five dead, both civilians and security personnel.
