Japan logs trade surplus for 7th month in January
(MENAFN) Japan posted a current account surplus for the seventh consecutive month in January, with the balancing hitting USD509 million on increased exports amid weaker yen, QNA reported.
The balance marked a turnaround from a deficit of USD13.15 registered a year earlier, marked its first surplus for the month since 2001, the Japanese Finance Ministry said.
Exports grew by 15.3 percent from a year earlier to USD52.37 billion, while imports dropped 8.9 percent to USD59.57 billion, pushing down the goods trade deficit to USD7.15 billion.
