Bahrain plans to expand public transport network in 2015
(MENAFN) Bahrain is set to expand its bus network by launching 20 new routes in 2015, Arabian Business reported.
According to the transport and telecommunications minister, public transport coverage across Bahrain should be increased from 35 percent to 77 percent in 2015.
The plan is to increase the current 12 bus lines in operation to 32 new bus lines by August. The 35 current busses are also to be increased, reaching 77 in April, and up to 141 by August.
"[Our] session discussed various alternatives to increase public transport commuters and achieve strategic goals," cabinet secretary general said in a statement.
