US pushes for Libyan General Nat'l Congress to participate in Geneva talks
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US urged all Libyan parties, including former General National Congress members to participate in the discussions underway in Geneva that was convened by UN Special Representative and Head of UN Support Mission in Libya, Bernardino Leon.
"Those who choose not to participate are excluding themselves from discussions which are critical to the peace, stability and security of Libya," said State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki to reporters on Monday.
She asserted that the US does not recognize the Government of National Salvation (GNS) in Libya and "is not engaged with any person purporting to act on behalf of Omar Al-Hassi or the GNS, contrary to some reports."
