Qatar- Low voter registration for CMC poll
(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Elections Department of the Ministry of Interior and Supervisory Committee for the Central Municipal Council (CMC) poll has complained of low voter registration for the upcoming election of the public representative body, which is due this May, and has extended the registration period for a week from tomorrow until February 5.
This was the period originally fixed for deleting and adding names to the voter list, but those nationals who haven't registered their names in the voter list yet can do so during the above week, said Brigadier Majid Ibrahim Al Khulaifi, head of the elections department and the poll supervisory committee.
The previous election (held in 2011) saw a voter registration of over 32,000, much more than the registration for the CMC poll for the next term (2015), he said in a release yesterday.
