Tadawul: Saudi market capitalization rises 3.422


(MENAFN- Arab News) The Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) closed at a level of 8333.30 points at the end of 2014 compared to 8535.60 points for the previous year losing 202.30 points or 2.37 percent according to a market report.

It said that the highest close level for the index (TASI) during 2014 11149.36 points was recorded on Sept. 9.

The total market capitalization reached SR1812.89 billion ($483.44 billion) at the end of 2014 increasing by 3.42 percent from the previous year according to the report posed on the Tadawul website.

The total value of shares traded for 2014 reached SR2146.51 billion ($572.41 billion) compared to SR1369.67 billion ($365.25 billion) for the previous year rising by 56.72percent.

The total number of transactions executed during 2014 reached 35.76 million compared to 28.97 million trades for the previous year increasing by 23.45 percent.

The total number of shares traded for 2014 reached 70.80 billion compared to 53.53 billion shares traded during the previous year rising by 32.28 percent. Historical prices & volume traded data are adjusted to account for all corporate actions during the year. The numbers of trading days during 2014 was 250 against 248 in 2013 .

The daily average number of transactions executed during 2014 increased by 22.46 percent.

The daily average value of shares traded during 2014 reached SR8586.05 million compared to SR5522.85 million for the previous year rising by 55.46 percent.

The daily average number of shares traded during 2014 reached 283.21 million shares compared to 215.84 million shares traded during the previous year increasing by 31.22 percent.

In term of number of transactions during 2014 the insurance sector was the most active sector with 8.51 million trades that represent 23.81 percent of the total trades during the year followed by the petrochemical industries with 3.46 million trades that represent 9.67 percent and the agriculture and food Industries sector with 3.41 million trades or 9.54 percent of the total trades executed during the year 2014.

The Petrochemical Industries sector led the market in term of value of shares traded during the year 2014 amounting to SR332.61 billion that represent 15.50 percent of the total value traded followed by the Insurance sector with SR 319.07 billion that represent 14.86 percent and the Banking & Financial Services sector SR279.71 billion or 13.03 percent of the total value traded during 2014.

In term of number of shares traded (adjusted) the Real Estate Development sector was the most active sector during the year 2014 the number of shares traded for the sector reached 11.30 billion shares that represent 15.96 percent of the total volume traded during the year followed by the Petrochemical Industries Sector with a volume of 10.87 billion shares that represent 15.35 percent and the banking and financial services sector with 10.03 billion shares traded or 14.16 percent of the total shares traded during 2014.

With respect to stocks activity during the year 2014 Alinma Bank led the market in term of number of transactions followed by Dar Al-Arkan and SABIC.

Alinma Bank was also the market leader in term of value of shares traded during the year 2014 and has posted a value of SR136.89 billion. The two other most active stocks were SABIC and Dar Al-Arkan that posted a value of SR119.08 billion and SR93.76 billion respectively.

In term of number of shares traded during the year 2014 Dar Al-Arkan topped the list with 7.60 billion shares traded during the year followed by Alinma Bank and Zain KSA with a volume of 6.79 and 4.99 billion shares respectively.

Six companies offered parts of its shares to public (IPOs) during the year 2014.
