Ashrawi Briefs Austrian President on the Situation in Palestine

(MENAFN- QNA) PLO Executive Committee member, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, met with Austrian President, Heinz Fischer, in Vienna.

Both parties discussed the latest political developments in Palestine, including the current Palestinian bid at the UN and future political moves, the escalation of Israeli violations of international law that are destroying the two-state solution and the chances for peace and stability in the region, the importance of immediate relief measures and equitable construction in Gaza, and the urgent need for all members of the international community to hold Israel accountable with punitive measures, as well as bilateral relations and future cooperation between Palestine and Austria.

Dr. Ashrawi thanked Austria for its long-standing support of Palestinian human rights and its positive votes for Palestine in the international area. Moreover, she expressed her hope that the Austrian government will recognize the State of Palestine in the near future.
