Saudi- Al Kabeer climbs to No. 2 after honors sweep in Globe Cup
(MENAFN- Arab News) One mighty performance that saw Al Kabeer Frozen Foods sweep honors had the defending champion moving up the leaderboard after the eighth week in the Thursday League 12th Conference for Globe Cup at the Bowling City in Sultanah Center here.
Winner of the last conference then under the colors of Sarawat Al Kabeer emerged Team of the Week with the top tally of 35 points and Paolo Allego made it a double celebration by clinching the Bowler of the Week award on 670.
With the exception of Al Kabeer the session looked like an underdogs' night with bottom teams Jeddah 5KKB and Bulacan Knight taking the next two places after Al Kabeer on tied 26 points.
League-leading D' Barkads and three out fo the four teams in front of Al Kabeer in the team standings at the start of the session collapsed and failed to cross 20 points and this greatly helped Al Kabeer to move up four places to second in the standings.
D' Barkads were on 19 right behind Advance Co. 23. Alliance in Motion Global Habagat and Lifebuoy could only muster 15 11 and 8 points as the last three teams on the night. Al Murjana compiled 17 points.
Al Kabeer missed what could have been a perfect 36 after D' Barkads took the second game while it settled for second.
Allego shot scratch games of 180 221 and 257 at the helm of an Al Kabeer charge that also had 620 from Jowett Carrion and 600 from Jay-r de Dios. Team captain Igna Salgado contributed 211-227 while Gerry Mandanas and Mohd. Al Amri also tossed in two games of 194-186 and 187-176.
Enjoying a solid outing 5KKB drew 622 and 617 from Doods Versoza and Cesar Monares as well as 678 from Mike Protacio. Bonnie Garcia added 215-203 Phepz Niere 154-158 and Ally Bin 150-157.
Efren San Pedro rolled three-game series of 634 at the vanguard of Bulacan Knight with Atoi Cruz on 569 and Cesar Pagtalunan on 526. Jeff San Pedro shared 213-172 Andy Yumena made 192-177 and Ding dela Rosa had 195-183.
Advance Co. had Rey Feliciano leading the way on 611 followed by Danny Bautista 571 Dylan Ilagan 556 Pancho Cuevas 542 and Richard Junio 534 in a five-man rotation.
