Saudi- Alliance in Motion Global bowlers sparkle


(MENAFN- Arab News) Defending champion Alliance in Motion Global reminded pretenders to its crown they've got some work to do if they were to make it this time after clinching a late Team of the Week award entering the homestretch of eliminations in the

FTBJ-ICBL 34th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.

Alliance totaled 35 points as the best team during the 17th session and in the process dislodged Sky Freight Forwarders at third place in the team standings of the five-man team Friday league event.

GM Pin Pals ended up second on the day with 34 points with league-leading JP Gilas and Hidada Ltd. on 32.5 and 30 points respectively.

Purefoods Hotdog the only team with a mathemical chance of toppling Gilas at first place gathered 28 points. Lance & 3rdy pooled 23.5 points while Pin Crushers had 21.

Sky Freight was helpless to avoid its slide to fourth after a mere 15 points. D' Barkads and D' Frontiers brought up the rear on 13 and 6 points.

The week's awards were evenly distributed as Lucky Strike's Danny Bautista and Lou Punzalan of Gilas claimed the men's and ladies Bowler of the Week awards on 688 and 647. Bautista shot scratch games of 244 221 and 223 while Punzalan who practices three times a week to hone her game had lines of 175 212 and 164.

Alliance banked on a late push to steer clear of Pin Pals as the duo of Cris Villavelez and Randy Mata fired solid rounds of 659 and 656. Merlen Pamintuan and Michelle Mata added 583 and 573 from the distaff side while Bonnie Garcia made 152-166 and team manager Danny Pamintuan carded 190.

Richard Junio was the lone male player to go full games for Pin Pals on 617. Minda Guevarra shared 562 on the distaff side where May Lourdes contributed 158-162 and Charrie Guzman had 166. With two games each were Efren San Pedro 172-168 Jeff San Pedro 224-183 and Roger Daquioag 226-204.

Zaldy Bacero supported Lou at Gilas with 684 while Paolo Allego came through with 521 to go with the 552 by Jeanette Cerbito 183-161 by Rey Beltran and 168 by Rene Punzalan.

Over at Hidada Nanding Siasoco owned the top score of 627 with the ladies duo of Grace Siasoco and Pinky Acato on 554 and 529. The other scorers were Romy Bunagan 204-150 Pancho Cuevas 214-162 and Jun Palacios 249-200.
