Aluminum Bahrain net profit surges 502 percent in Q3


(MENAFN) Aluminum Bahrain (Alba), owner of one of the world's largest aluminum smelters, announced it has registered a surge by 502 percent in its net income, reaching USD78 million during the July-September period of this year compared with USD13 million for the same period last year, Gulf Daily News reported.

The company said that the surge in its come happened due to strong operational performance as well as higher metal prices.

Alba's total sales for the third quarter of this year reached HSD593 million, compared with USD488 million posted during the same period in 2013.

During the January-September period of this year, the company's net income reached USD165 million compared with USD176 million registered during the same period last year, while its total sales totaled USD1.6 billion compared with USD1.5 billion for the corresponding period in 2013.

"Alba's sound financial performance in the third quarter of 2014 was driven by strong operational performance and gains from the marketing organization," Alba's Chief Executive said.
