Malaysia's exports down in July
(MENAFN) Malaysia's exports posted their weakest performance in June in more than a year, as demand from China and Japan for key goods dropped, The Peninsula Qatar reported.
Exports rose just 0.6 percent compared to last year, the weakest since June 2013, while imports fell 0.7 percent, the first decline since May last year.
The trade surplus for the month USD1.14 billion, compared to USD1.24 billion t in June, with the drop mainly attributed to the fall of 14.4 percent in exports to China, Malaysia's largest trade partner.
Meanwhile, exports of the country's electrical and electronic products dipped by 1 percent due to lower demand from Singapore and China, while imports were down by 9 percent in consumption goods and by 17.9 percent in capital goods.
