S. Korea's inflation rate below 2 percent
(MENAFN) According to data by Statistics Korea, the country's inflation rate remained at 1 percent during the fourth quarter of last year and the first quarter of this year, QNA reported.
Meanwhile, the second quarter registered an inflation rate of 1.6 percent, lower than the 2.1 percent average for 34 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Experts view that the consumer growth rate should stay around 2-3 percent to ensure economic vitality. If low prices continue for a long time, it could lead to low consumption, slow investment and a deflation.
