China's Xinjiang receives 10m passengers in H1

(MENAFN) China's Xinjiang Airport Group announced that more than 10million passengers have traveled to northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the first half of 2014, Xinhua reported.

The announcement showed a growth of 13.8 percent over a year ago. While air cargo volume reached 75,600 tons in the first six months, representing a growth of 11.9 percent on-year.

The surges in passenger numbers and cargo were due to Xinjiang's expanding tourism market and more direct air routes into the region, which has 16 airports.
