Cadillac recalled in China over key design defect

(MENAFN) China's top observer said Shanghai GM is to recall 14,953 imported cars of the Cadillac brand on August 31 over ignition key design defect, Xinhua reported.

The recall includes Cadillac's SRX sport utility vehicles manufactured between August 25, 2004 and September 4, 2008, and CTS sedans made between March 23, 2004 and August 21, 2012.

Due to defective design, the driver may touch accessories on the ignition key and lead to unexpected key rotation, posing safety hazards, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said.

The company will check the keys on affected vehicles and eliminate potential problems for car owners free of charge, the AQSIQ added.
