Belgium unemployment rate up to 8.5 percent in May
(MENAFN) According to latest figures released by Eurostat, the number of unemployed people in Belgium increased to 8.5 percent in May, Xinhua reported
Eurostat, the European Union's (EU) statistical agency, said the number of people out of work reached 422,000, slightly higher than April's figure of 420,000
The number of unemployed in the country slightly rose when compared to May 2013, in which unemployment rate was 8.4 percent
Belgium's unemployment rate is below the average for the EU, which stands at 10.3 percent, while the average unemployment for euro area countries is 11.6 percent
