India's industrial production dips in March

(MENAFN) Data showed that India's industrial production decreased in March for the fifth time in six months, underlining the challenge facing the next government to revive the country's economy, Xinhua reported. According to government estimates, the economy grew by only 4.9 percent in the financial year ended March 2014, half the rate it notched up during India's boom times. "The figures show the next government will inherit an economy with very little positive momentum," a Capital Economics analyst said. Output from Asia's third-largest economy's mines, factories and utilities edged down by 0.5 percent in March compared to a year earlier, while manufacturing output dropped by 1.2 percent.
