China's economy expands 7.4 percent in Q1

(MENAFN) Economic growth in China in the January-March period of this year hit 7.4 percent versus the corresponding period a year before, Xinhua reported. The Chinese National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced that the country's gross domestic product (GDP) increased to USD2.08 trillion in the quarter. The NBS said that the figures hint at economic stability in China during the three-month period, as the government promoted reforms, innovation and restructuring. A senior researcher at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges said: "I predicted the first-quarter GDP growth to be between 7.2 and 7.3 percent. Though slower, I don't think this level of growth is unbearable."
