India to borrow USD61.4 b in H1
(MENAFN) India plans to borrow as much as USD61.4 billion in the first half of the fiscal year starting from April 1, according to Arab News
Arvind Mayaram, the country"s economic affairs secretary said that the loan will be 61.6 percent of the full-year target.
The borrowing will help the country raise 60-65 percent of the budgeted amount for the full year during the April-September period
Manoj Rane, managing director and head of fixed income and treasury at BNP Paribas, said: "The (first-half borrowing) number is better than last year. "However, the new government will have its own budget, and fiscal deficit (projection) will certainly be higher than 4.1 percent, which could lead to higher borrowing.
