Syria gov"t, SNC negotiators to hold direct talks in Geneva Sat.
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Syrian government delegation to the Geneva II Conference will be meeting the delegation of the opposition Syrian National Coalition (SNC) face to face in Geneva tomorrow
The meeting will be attended by the UN-Arab League Joint Special Envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi, the state-run TV station announced on Friday evening
The announcement followed reports earlier today that the second round of talks of the UN-sponsored Conference failed to make breakthrough, with both sides exchanging accusations over the stalemate
Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister and member of the government delegation Faisal Al-Mikdad said the SNC delegation insists on breaching the provisions of Geneva I Communique which provides for discussing the combat against terrorism before the issue of the formation of a transitional authority
On his part, the media spokesman of the SNC delegation Lo'ai Safi urged the international community to press for advancing the peace talks, and cast doubts on the government's will to reach a peaceful end to the conflict.
