Japan, Canada to agree on shale import deal


(MENAFN) A shale gas import deal between Japan and Canada is expected to come to light to help Japan meet its energy demand, Xinhua reported. The deal is to be agreed on during the Japanese Prime Minister's upcoming visit to Canada. Under the expected agreement, Canada may allow imports totaling to 40 million tons of liquified shale gas to Japan per annum beginning from 2020. Japan is scheduled to start receiving 6.7 million tons of shale gas from the US starting 2017.
