(MENAFN- Arab News) ?Two Saudi students won bronze medals at the 45th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) that concluded in Moscow on Wednesday. The students are Nora Al-Sabti and Ahmed Al-Faifi. Al-Sabti was the first Saudi girl student to win an international medal in science, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday. The contest, in which students from 73 countries participated, was held in the Russian capital from July 16 to 24. The other members of the Saudi team were Abdullah Abdul Ghani from Dammam and Salman Bandar Al-Ahmadi from Riyadh. Education Minister Prince Faisal bin Abdullah, chairman of the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for the Gifted and Creativity (KACFGC), or Mawhiba, congratulated the team members and their teachers and schools for supporting talented children. "This year's participation in the IChO was different from previous years particularly with the competing team's high ambitions. They also had greater government support which created a favorable environment for their preparations," the prince said. He said their participation would have a positive impact on education in the Kingdom. The participating team underwent intense training over the months before the contest. Another team of Saudi students won two medals and certificates of appreciation at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Copenhagen last week.
