Thailand: pilot dies in plane crash while landing
(MENAFN) Police declared that a private, light jet has crashed while landing in eastern Thailand on Sunday, leaving the pilot dead.
Police superintendent Pol. Col. Ruangsak Buadaeng confirmed that the turboprop plane, which was supposed to land in the premises of Rajamangala University of Technology East in Si Racha district of Chon Buri province, rammed into the ground and was engulfed with blaze.
The pilot, named Mike Romberg aged 60, from South Africa, has died at the site.
He had traveled from Chiang Rai province in northern Thailand and intended to visit Phuket on Monday.
