Mexico court sentences 2 men over police killings

(MENAFN) Attorney General of Mexico (PGR) declared that two men were handed 16 years sentence in jail over the killing of two policemen in the south-western state of Guerrero.

Julian "D" and Crescencio "D" were convicted of the murder, which took place in 2017, when police were attacked by gunmen in the municipality of San Miguel Totolapan.

Police arrested the suspects amid a mission against Los Tequileros, a local criminal ring popular for extortions, mass abductions and killings in the small town of Guerrero.

PGR confirmed that the judge has ruled that the men shall pay up to USD 38,880 fine and reparations to the victims' families.
